Electrical services in Morley, Noranda, Dianella and the inner north-east

G'day, I'm Tony. Around Morley the work is usually older brick homes, duplexes, rentals, unit groups and the odd small shop that just wants the power sorted without a song and dance.

RCD / safety switch upgrades

If you're renting out a duplex in Embleton or tidying an older place in Morley before a sale, RCDs are one of the first things I check. A lot of boards around here were never set up for how people actually live now. I'll tell you what protection you've got, what's missing, and what needs upgrading so the place is safer, more compliant and easier to hand over without a last-minute panic.

Smoke alarm installs and replacements

Smoke alarms are simple until they aren't. Expired units, the wrong locations, alarms that have been chirping since last winter — I see it constantly in Noranda rentals and Dianella unit groups. If you want the property ready for a new tenant without a dozen back-and-forth visits, I can sort the alarm side properly and make sure the basics aren't being left to chance.

Lighting and downlights

Inner-NOR lighting jobs are rarely just "swap one fitting". It's old batten holders in Bedford, tired fluorescent kitchen lights in Yokine, security lights over a Bayswater carport, or a landlord wanting common-area lighting cleaned up in a small unit block. I handle upgrades, replacements and new installs without leaving mystery holes in the ceiling or spaghetti in the roof space.

Power points and new circuits

One double GPO in the wrong spot somehow ends up running half the house. That's Morley in a sentence. I add power points where people actually need them — behind the TV, in the study nook, next to the split system, out on the patio — and if the job needs a new circuit instead of another band-aid, I'll say so. Handy for older homes in Morley and Inglewood where modern loads have outgrown the original layout.

Switchboard upgrades

This is a big one around Morley, Embleton and Bayswater. Old ceramic fuses, cramped boards, no room for new circuits, and years of piecemeal additions are pretty common in 70s and 80s homes here. If you're adding air con, renovating, fitting an EV charger or just sick of nuisance trips, a board upgrade usually makes the rest of the house behave a lot better and gives you room to grow.

It also makes future jobs easier. Half the battle in older homes is giving the place a clean starting point instead of stacking one more fix onto an already messy board.

Fault finding

Power tripping in one room. Lights flickering when the microwave kicks in. Oven works till the hotplates join the party. Fault finding is about working out the actual cause, not swapping bits and hoping for the best. I do a lot of this in older Noranda and Dianella houses where wiring has been altered over the years and nobody left a map behind for the poor bugger coming later.

Emergency electrical callouts

When something is actively unsafe or the place has dropped power, I handle urgent callouts across Morley, Bedford, Yokine and nearby suburbs. Burning smell, sparking fitting, half-dead board, water where it shouldn't be — that's not a "leave a message and wait till Tuesday" job. Give me a bell or send a text and I'll tell you straight whether it needs immediate attention or can be booked properly.

Solar-related electrical work

I handle the electrical side around existing solar systems too — isolators, inverter supply issues, switchboard upgrades, fault tracing and the bits that get exposed when an older Morley board suddenly has to play nicely with solar gear. Same story in Bayswater and Noranda: the roof gear might be newer than the house, but the supply underneath still has to be up to the task if you want the system running safely.

That includes the awkward in-between jobs as well — the house already has solar, then someone adds a new oven, split system or hot water upgrade and suddenly the old board wants a proper rethink.

EV charger installation

More landlords and owner-occupiers around Morley are asking about EV chargers now, especially in duplexes, rear-laneway lots and townhouse-style homes where parking is tighter. I install charger circuits, check board capacity and make sure the supply is right before anyone starts hanging gear on the wall. Tesla or universal Type 2, the main question in these suburbs is usually whether the existing board can cope — not the badge on the charger.

Commercial electrical

I also handle small commercial work around the Morley activity area, Coventry Village, local offices, workshops and shopfronts heading toward Bayswater. Lighting faults, test-and-repair jobs, power issues, switchboard work, tenancy changeovers and general maintenance — all fine. If you've got a café, office, clinic, workshop or retail tenancy that just needs a reliable sparkie without the corporate circus, give me a bell.

CCTV and security cabling

CCTV matters around duplex driveways, unit-complex entries, side access on rentals, and smaller shops around Walter Road and the Galleria side of town. I can handle camera power, cabling, intercom points and the tidy-up work that stops security gear looking like an afterthought. Good security work should look planned, not like somebody chased a wire across the wall on a Friday arvo and hoped nobody would notice.

Electrical safety inspection

Pre-purchase checks, pre-sale tidy-ups, rental compliance inspections — I do a proper look through the electrical system and give you a written report you can actually use. For older Morley and Noranda homes, that often means finding original ceramic fuses still in place, RCDs that don't trip when tested, or wiring that's been added by someone who wasn't an electrician.

Appliance installation

Ovens, cooktops, rangehoods, dishwashers — I handle the electrical connection side so your new appliances are installed safely and up to code. In older Morley and Noranda kitchens, that often means working with what's there. Sometimes the existing circuit is fine. Sometimes the board needs a new breaker. I'll tell you which situation you're in before we start.

Exhaust fans, ceiling fans and heat lamps

Bathroom exhaust fans that actually extract, ceiling fans that don't wobble, heat lamps that work when you need them. I install new and replace old. Fans are one of those jobs that looks simple but goes wrong often — bathroom exhaust fans that don't actually vent outside, ceiling fans mounted on dodgy brackets. I install fans properly with secure mounting, correct wiring, and proper switching.

Surge protection

Whole-house surge protection at the switchboard. One device that protects everything from power spikes — lightning, grid events, motor surges. Modern homes are full of electronics that are vulnerable to voltage spikes. A surge arrestor installed at the switchboard catches most spikes before they reach your circuits.

Renovation and rewiring

Kitchen renos, bathroom upgrades, extensions, granny flats, full rewires. I handle the electrical from first fix through to final — coordinating with your builder or working direct. Renovation electrical is timing. You need first fix done when the walls are open, then come back for final fix after plastering.

Pool, spa and outdoor electrical

Pool pumps, spa circuits, alfresco power, outdoor lighting, garden power points. Everything you need to make your backyard work properly. Outdoor electrical has its own requirements — weather exposure, water proximity, and safety distances. Pool and spa work especially needs to be done right because water and electricity don't mix.

Air conditioning electrical

Split system circuits, isolator installation, switchboard upgrades for aircon. I handle the electrical side under EC 9715. Refrigerant work is routed to ARCtick-licensed partners. Every split system needs a dedicated electrical circuit — that means running cable from the switchboard to the unit location, installing an isolator switch, and making sure the breaker is correctly rated.

Hot water electrical

Electric hot water circuits, heat pump electrical, element and thermostat repairs. I handle the electrical side under EC 9715. Plumbing and refrigerant work is routed to licensed partners. Electric hot water systems need a dedicated circuit — they draw significant power and need proper protection at the switchboard.

Also handled

I also handle TV antenna installs, data cabling and Starlink. The family business has dedicated specialists for each through Sky Signal WA and TV Antennas Perth. If it's cabling as part of an electrical job, I'll usually sort it on the spot. If it's a dedicated antenna, data or Starlink job, it'll route to the specialist crew and get handled properly instead of being half-done.

If you've got a shortlist of jobs instead of one big glamorous project, that's fine too. Around Morley it's usually smoke alarms, a sticky breaker, two dead power points and an outside light that gave up months ago. That's real life. Send the list through and I'll tell you what order to tackle it in.
