Appliance installation

Ovens, cooktops, rangehoods, dishwashers — I handle the electrical connection side so your new appliances are installed safely and up to code.

What I handle

New kitchen? Upgrading an old oven? Got a rangehood that needs its own circuit? I do the electrical side — running the cable, installing the circuit at the switchboard, and making the final connection.

In older Morley and Noranda kitchens, that often means working with what's there. Sometimes the existing circuit is fine. Sometimes the board needs a new breaker. Sometimes the whole board is too old and crowded to add anything safely.

I'll tell you which situation you're in before we start, so there's no surprise mid-job.

Common appliance jobs

  • Oven hardwired installation
  • Induction cooktop circuit
  • Rangehood power connection
  • Dishwasher electrical hookup
  • Wall-mounted microwave circuit
  • Laundry dryer connection

Local installation examples

Morley

New induction cooktop in a 1980s kitchen

Old board had no room for a 32A circuit. Upgraded the switchboard, ran new cable, installed the cooktop — all in one visit.

Noranda

Rangehood in a rental kitchen reno

Previous rangehood was plug-in. New one needed hardwiring plus a dedicated isolator. Sorted it so it's code-compliant for the rental.

Bedford

Oven swap in a duplex

Old oven was 15A, new one needed 20A. Upgraded the circuit and breaker to match the new appliance requirements.

What to send me

SMS me a photo of the appliance label (showing the wattage/amps), a photo of your current switchboard, and the suburb. I'll tell you if it's straightforward or if the board needs work first.

Common questions

Can you install my new oven if it needs hardwiring?

Yes. Most modern ovens need a dedicated hardwired circuit rather than a plug. I install the circuit, connect the oven, and make sure the switchboard can handle it — especially in older Morley homes where the board may need an upgrade first.

Do you install gas cooktops?

I handle the electrical side — the ignition, any electrical controls, and making sure there's proper isolation. The gas connection itself gets routed to a licensed gas fitter. I can coordinate that if needed.

What if my switchboard can't handle the new appliance?

Common in 70s and 80s homes around Morley. If the board is maxed out or too old for a new circuit, I'll quote a switchboard upgrade as part of the job so you know the full picture before we start.
