Smoke Alarms

WA smoke alarm laws changed in 2022. All homes now need photoelectric smoke alarms that are either hardwired or use 10-year lithium batteries. Rentals have even stricter requirements. I handle smoke alarm compliance throughout Morley, Noranda, Dianella, and the inner north-east.

Current WA Requirements

Since April 2022, all WA homes need smoke alarms that are photoelectric type (not ionisation), less than 10 years old, and either hardwired with battery backup or powered by 10-year sealed lithium batteries.

For rental properties, the requirements go further. Alarms must be installed in every bedroom, in hallways connecting bedrooms to the rest of the home, and on every level of multi-storey homes. And they must be interconnected - when one goes off, they all go off.

Many older Morley and Embleton homes have the original ionisation alarms from the 1980s or 90s. These don't meet current standards and need replacing.
