Air conditioning electrical

Split system circuits, isolator installation, switchboard upgrades for aircon. I handle the electrical side under EC 9715. Refrigerant work is routed to ARCtick-licensed partners.

What I handle vs. what gets routed

I handle all electrical work under EC 9715 — dedicated circuits, isolator switches, switchboard upgrades. Refrigerant pipe connections and gas charging require ARCtick licensing, which is routed to accredited partners. I can coordinate the full install or just handle the electrical side if you have your own aircon technician.

What I handle

Every split system needs a dedicated electrical circuit. That means running cable from the switchboard to the unit location, installing an isolator switch, and making sure the breaker is correctly rated.

In older Morley homes, the switchboard often needs attention first. Full boards, old fuses, or undersized mains can all prevent a safe aircon installation. I sort the board out so the aircon circuit works properly.

I also do isolator upgrades for existing systems that were installed without proper isolation — common in older installs where the aircon tech just plugged into an existing power point.

Aircon electrical services

  • Power for outdoor unit

Local aircon electrical examples

Morley

New split system in a 1970s home

Old fuse board had no room for a new circuit. Upgraded to a modern board with RCDs, then ran the aircon circuit. Coordinated with the aircon installer for same-week completion.

Dianella

Isolator upgrade on existing unit

Split system was plugged into a power point — no isolator. Added proper isolation so the aircon service tech can safely work on it during annual servicing.

Noranda

Multi-head system in a duplex

Three indoor heads off one outdoor unit. Ran the outdoor unit circuit, installed the isolator, and checked the indoor unit locations had power for the heads.

What to send me

SMS me a photo of your switchboard, the aircon unit specs (or a link to the model you're buying), and where you want it installed. I'll let you know what the electrical side involves.

Common questions

Can you install my split system air conditioner?

I handle the electrical side — running the circuit, installing the isolator, upgrading the switchboard if needed. The refrigerant pipe connection requires an ARCtick-licensed technician, which I coordinate with or route to a licensed partner.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade for a new split system?

Many older Morley homes do. Split systems draw significant current, especially on startup. If your board is full or uses old-style fuses, it may need upgrading before you can safely add an aircon circuit.

Can you add an isolator to an existing split system?

Yes. Some older installations don't have proper isolation, which makes servicing unsafe. I can add an isolator switch so your aircon technician can safely work on the unit.
